Four Projects Win NAIOP DC | MD Awards
The awards keep rolling in for West End Square 50 and 1789 Massachusetts Avenue NW. The latest are from NAIOP DC|MD, which presented an Award of Excellence for “Best Multi-Family, Washington, DC” to Clark Construction Group for Eastbanc’s West End Square 50, and an Award of Merit to Grunley Construction Company for best renovations/historic restoration on 1789 Massachusetts Avenue NW. SEDC and our parent company, Schnabel Engineering, had a hand in the foundation design phase for both projects, as well as construction observation services for 1789 Massachusetts Avenue. Earlier in the year, Engineering News-Record/MidAtlantic recognized 1789 Massachusetts Avenue NW with an Award of Merit in the renovation/restoration category and West End Square 50 with an Award of Merit for office/retail/mixed-use.
Two outstanding multi-family developments in Silver Spring, Maryland, also received NAIOP DC|MD awards. Congratulations to Stantec Architecture and Donohoe for recognition of The Bonifant, which earned an Award of Excellence for “Best Multi-Family, Montgomery County” and to The Tower Companies on receiving an Award of Merit for “Best Multi-Family, Montgomery County” for The Pearl. SEDC and our parent company both contributed to foundation design and construction observation services.

Announcing Schnabel Engineering DC
Schnabel Engineering DC, Inc. (SEDC) is proud to announce the opening of our new office in Washington, DC. SEDC’s office specializes in innovative and cost-effective geotechnical design solutions. Our personnel have over 30 years of experience working in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, and our clients have included government agencies, owners, developers, contractors, and A/E firms.
SEDC’s office will be managed by Mr. Bill Khouri, PE. Bill has been practicing geotechnical engineering in the mid-Atlantic region for three decades and has extensive experience in the design and implementation of foundation engineering studies for commercial, higher education, office, recreational and residential buildings. Bill also specializes in forensic studies, risk mitigation, slope stability and in addressing unexpected subsurface conditions that arise during construction in a cost effective and efficient manner.
Bill will be joined by Joan Bentel, PE (Associate), Kristina Haggard (Project Engineer), Eoin Durcan (Staff Engineer), and Iridia Snowden (Office Manager).
